Workshop 2: Working collaboratively
Wednesday 18th May 2011, 10am–2pm, John Scurr Community Centre
This workshop focused on the way we can work collaboratively with other organisations in the voluntary sector as well as statutory bodies to enhance all our work by becoming a 'Community Anchor'. We want our partnership work to be a win-win scenario and want to support partners who cannot work directly with us to use this as an opportunity to network with others and develop their own hubs or working groups depending on areas of expertise and experience.
We also explored the results of a feasibility study that looked at the needs of the local community and gaps in provision and most importantly how best to work together and share resources in order to meet these need.

Workshop 3 – Working actively
Wednesday 25th May 2011, 10am–2pm, John Scurr Community Centre
This workshop was designed to work actively with organisations and statutory bodies who are interested in the localisation bill and its implications for them and their partnership bodies. We ran a series of workshops to explore how to set up and become a part of a 'Community Anchor'. We also showcased real case studies of successful Community Anchors, large and small, what forms they take and the journey travelled.
We also looked at the positive aspects of being part of a Community Anchor, including capacity to recruit and mobilise volunteers or community champions, joint bidding for funding and greater recognition and awareness amongst the community and the borough.
