On behalf of everyone involved in the project we would like to congratulate the 24 women who have qualified as badminton coaches through the free Badminton Coach Training provided by the Muslim Women's Collective and Newlon Fusion in partnership with Badminton England and GLL.

On 2nd March we celebrated the success of the newly qualified badminton coaches with an award ceremony held at Hayfield Masala, Mile End. We were delighted to be joined by so many people including Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets and of course the Coaches themselves who worked extremely hard to get their qualifications.

Each of the women completed five weekly sessions at Mile End Leisure Centre and are now able to support badminton lessons and courses across the borough, which up until now has had an historic shortage of women coaches.
As a result of their new qualifications some of the women have already been employed by GLL and as well as badminton assistant coaches, their qualifications will also help them gain employment in other areas, such as assisting in children's activities.
